Review of 'Resisting Redemption' by Bonnie R. Paulson

Resisting Redemption

This is the third book in a series where the plot points carry over. All plot points will be resolved by book FIVE - the end of the series. This is a sweet style romance.

With her heart at war with her mind, Lisa’s need to chase dangerous fun over boring responsibilities tugs at her emotions. Love is the last thing she expects to find, especially with her past revolting against her future.

The only love Ryan’s heart has room for is for his motherless son. But, when he finds himself yearning for Lisa, Ryan has to convince himself and her that he’s all the thrill she’ll ever need.

Will Lisa’s past destroy their future before either of them can accept the true meaning of love?

**My thoughts**

I really love this series. There is just enough mystery and suspense to keep it intriguing, plus romance that isn't dependent on a lot of sex. It is that fun, subtle game of cat and mouse that makes the dating game so much fun.

In this book, we meet the third sister, Lisa. Another thing I love about this series is how the characters differ from book to book. In the previous one, when we met Lisa, she seemed like such a bitch. I realize now that that persona was how the others saw her, as a lot of that story was told through Sara Beth's eyes. It made me realize how easily we can misinterpret someone, based on one person's assessment. Then, when we get the the story through that person's eyes, we get to know the real her.

I found Lisa to be absolutely charming. She has a heart of gold for her clients and bends over backwards for them. I am able to relate to her work with people with special needs. She is determined to do the right thing, despite her biological heritage. She is also very lonely, longing for a family, since she never really had a loving one. She remains guarded, but allows herself to take a few chances in life and love.

I also fell madly in love with Jesse and his father, Ryan. I want to throat punch Jesse's mother, Wanda (which is not usually something I wish to bestow on people). I know she had a difficult blow thrown at her when Jesse was born, but she could have handled it all so differently. I just don't trust her.

I think you could technically read this book as a standalone. You get just enough information about the Caracus family and Lisa's connection to it and her siblings to understand what is going on. As with most series, though, I do recommend reading the first two, to truly appreciate all of the plot points. I can't wait to get the next book!
